There are two basic ways to think about preparing for college. The first says, “The best preparation for college is a good high school education experience, and I should really need to do anything special to prepare for college.” The second says, “College preparation should not be left to chance, and what really matters is how you build your college resume.”

The correct answer? Both.

It’s not a good idea to forgo doing well in school to beef up your college resume with extracurricular activities. It’s also not a good idea to forgo building your college resume to focus entirely on getting the best grades. Both are important. For best results, you need to get the right balance between the two.

There’s an important strategy for approaching this challenge that helps you find that balance. What is it? That’s coming up in the next blog post.
